Passenger Detained Following Allegedly Hoping to Crack Into Cockpit of American Airlines Flight
A man was detained on Friday soon after allegedly making an attempt to break into the cockpit of an American Airline Flight 31 certain for Honolulu, Hawaii from LAX.
According to ABC News, the man was waiting around for the bathroom close to the cockpit when a flight attendant questioned him to sit down. The man was carrying a notebook and reportedly tried the cockpit door before he was subdued.
In a statement to the outlet, American Airlines stated that legislation enforcement fulfilled the airplane once it landed in Honolulu. The airplane was escorted by two F-22 fighter jets for the relaxation of the flight subsequent the incident.
The Department of Homeland Safety stated in a tweet that the passenger was detained once the airplane landed.
“At this time, there are no other stories of disruptions to flights,” the statement go through. “We go on to watch all flights out of an abundance of warning and will present updates as required.”
According to Hawaii News Now, the man appeared to be intoxicated. A fellow passenger posted a video clip of the suspect on Instagram, remaining walked off the airplane with his wrists in handcuffs.
“Crazy! Another person tried to break into the cockpit on my light-weight from LA to Honolulu,” the passenger wrote in the caption. “We had been greeted by the FBI. They are now taking us off the airplane a few rows at a time for canine sniffing and interviews. I’ve never ever observed anything at all like this.”
